Regulatory background
Since the introduction of the digital tachograph in Europe on May 1, 2006, EU regulations have imposed strict requirements on the digital storage of tachograph and driver card data as well as compliance with driving and rest times. These regulations are binding for all hauliers, logistics companies and drivers and can lead to heavy fines if they are not complied with.
Collecting, storing and analyzing this data can be time-consuming. In particular, downloading data and manually entering it into archiving systems can consume considerable resources. Automated processes can significantly reduce or even completely eliminate this manual effort.
Tachograph add-in and IOX-uReader
With the tachograph add-in and the retrofittable hardware component IOX-uReader, Geotab offers an effective and efficient alternative to manually downloading and archiving data.
Customers can determine the frequency of automated data downloads from the mass memory and driver card themselves. Geotab offers both the legally prescribed minimum download intervals and daily downloads. Many fleet operators and public authorities rely on daily downloads and have aligned their processes accordingly.
For example, fleet operators can use the driver data for controlling, payroll and expense reports. Due to the high turnover of drivers, fleet operators are increasingly demanding daily download intervals.
Tachograph information in real time
With the EU Regulatory, Pro and ProPlus tariffs, fleet managers can access all activities in near real time. A variety of clear and concise reports on drivers, vehicles, driving styles and tachographs enable fleet managers to manage their fleets more easily and efficiently. Real-time remaining driving times form a reliable basis for dispatchers' deployment planning and help to actively avoid fines and infringements.
Archiving and infringement module
With the archiving and infringement module in the tachograph add-in, Geotab offers fleet managers not only remote downloads and real-time tachograph status, but also the option of archiving driver and vehicle data in compliance with the law and checking for infringements - all in one place and in one user interface.
Fleet managers no longer have to worry about backing up data. Your data is backed up automatically or can be archived manually using an import function. All reports, such as the certificate of days not taken into account or the infringement report per driver, can be exported, printed and sent for presentation and driver instruction at the click of a mouse. A detailed activity overview per driver and the graphical display of driving times, breaks and rest periods enable precise and legally compliant data analysis.
In addition to its own archiving and infringement module, Geotab offers the option of integrating other applications. For example, the web-based archiving of VDO (TIS WEB) or the archiving solution of Softwarebüro Zauner are already integration partners.
Corporate card hosting
Another service that has become increasingly important for customers in recent years is the hosting of company cards by specialist retailers.
Special card hosting systems ensure that hundreds of company cards from different customers can carry out the authentication process between the tachograph and the remote download server at the same time. This prevents delays in automated remote downloads and saves customers from having to invest in expensive additional IT infrastructure. They can therefore better focus on the value-adding tasks and challenges of their business. With its Remote Download RCS application, Geotab offers the possibility to integrate such map hosting systems and thus ensures efficient download management.
Geotabs truck solution is eligible for funding
For some years now, many European countries have been offering state funding programs to support road haulage companies in implementing measures to increase efficiency. The application period for funding usually begins at the start of the year.
For example, fleet operators in Germany can apply for a subsidy of up to €2,000 per vehicle each year. The maximum grant per company can be up to €33,000. The funding is distributed until the funding pot is empty.
